John Ball Zoo is looking for a creative and energetic Graphic Design Intern to join the Marketing team for the Zoo season. Work on a variety of projects from largescale prints to digital promotions. Experience a fast-paced, collaborative, and creative environment working with other designers and multiple departments. Grow your skills in organization, balancing projects, and visual storytelling. Get a chance to explore the zoo and its inhabitants and learn how to effectively translate that knowledge into enhancing the guest experience.
This is a paid, in-person position that begins in February with part-time hours, transitions to 40 hours, 5 days per week from May 18 to August 7, and returns to part-time hours in the fall. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Reporting to the Creative Manager, the Marketing & Graphic Design Intern will have the following responsibilities:
- Create graphic design assets for internal and external zoo needs.
- Collaborate with the Events Team to create graphics for 10 – 15 special events including but not limited to wayfinding signs, guest maps, and promotional graphics.
- Participate in monthly zoo-wide sign audits.
- Concept and create paid digital ads for marketing and events.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant college program.
- Junior or senior college status (preferred) pursuing a degree in relevant college major (ex. Graphic Design, Marketing, etc.).
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively and appropriately with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and members of the public with a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Working knowledge with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, Illustrator, & Photoshop).
- Proficiency with Apple products including a MacBook Pro.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Intern will work in various environments both inside and outside and may occasionally be exposed to inclement weather, pollen, mold, dust, dirt and other airborne contaminants.
