Job Summary:
The Shift Lead – Maintenance/Heavy Equipment oversees day‑to‑day recycling operations of tire waste while also leading mechanical maintenance efforts. This individual will guide team members, coordinate work across operations and maintenance, and help ensure a safe, efficient, and productive working environment. The work location is Finnley Butte Landfill, 73221 Bombing Range Rd, Boardman, OR. and the surrounding areas include Hermiston, Pendleton, Lexington, and Umatilla County.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently
- Coordinate, schedule, and prioritize operational and maintenance tasks
- Serve as the on‑site lead foreman supporting both operations and mechanical functions
- Troubleshoot Barclay tire shredders
- Train, mentor, and develop team members to promote strong performance and teamwork
- Maintain documentation, safety standards, and compliance across all activities
- Work closely with leadership to meet operational goals and long‑term site needs
Required Skills:
- Strong mechanical background with hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, shredding systems, etc. (mechanical aptitude)
- Proven leadership, supervisory, or lead foreman experience
- Solid understanding of landfill/recycling or heavy‑equipment operations (preferred)
- Ability to balance operational oversight with mechanical troubleshooting
- Effective communication, planning, and decision‑making skills
- Safety‑focused, reliable, and able to set the tone for a positive work culture
- CDL experience beneficial but not required
Education and Experience:
- Prior experience in the tire recycling, landfill or manufacturing industry is a plus.
