Role Overview
We are looking for a data-driven and creative Email & SMS Marketing Specialist to own our retention channels. In this role, you will manage the end-to-end execution of our email and copy messaging campaigns. Your goal is to nurture our customer base, increase Customer Lifetime Value (LTV), and drive repeat revenue through personalized, segmented communication.
You will act as the voice of our brand(s) in our customers' inboxes and phones, balancing engaging storytelling, direct response, A/B testing & data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy & Calendar Management
- Develop and execute a cohesive content calendar for both Email and SMS channels that aligns with each brand, product launches, promotions, brand storytelling, etc...
- Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey, moving leads and customers from "interested" to "loyal advocate."
2. Campaign Execution & Automation
- Campaigns: Build, schedule, and deploy email campaigns and promotional SMS blasts.
- Automations (Flows): Design, build, and optimize automated flows (e.g., Welcome Series, Abandoned Cart, Browse Abandonment, Post-Purchase, Win-Back, etc..).
- Ensure all messaging is mobile-optimized and renders correctly across different devices and email clients.
3. Segmentation & Personalization
- Manage list health and hygiene (cleaning unengaged subscribers).
- Create detailed customer segments based on purchase behavior, engagement, and demographics to ensure the right message gets to the right person.
4. Copywriting & Creative
- Write compelling, on-brand copy for subject lines, preview text, body copy, and SMS messages (keeping character limits in mind).
- Collaborate with the design team (or use templates) to create visually appealing assets that drive performance.
5. Analysis & Optimization
- Run consistent A/B tests on subject lines, send times, content, and offers.
- Track and report on KPIs weekly (Open Rate, Click-Through Rate, Conversion Rate, Revenue per Recipient, Unsubscribe Rate).
- Monitor deliverability to ensure we stay out of the spam folder.
6. Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with CAN-SPAM (Email) and TCPA/CTIA (SMS) regulations to protect the brand legally and reputationally.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: [2-4] years of experience in email marketing, preferably in E-commerce.
- Platform Mastery: Deep proficiency with ESPs and SMS platforms (e.g., Klaviyo, HubSpot).
- Copywriting: Strong writing skills with the ability to adopt a specific brand voice.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data and turn it into actionable insights (Excel/Google Sheets proficiency).
- Technical Basics: Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for email template troubleshooting is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Zero tolerance for typos or broken links; you check everything three times before sending.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Haves)
- Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Photoshop, Figma).
- Experience with loyalty programs (e.g., Yotpo, LoyaltyLion).
