Aquateen Academy is a four-year Youth Volunteer Program for teens, rising 9th grade to rising 12th grade, to explore the exciting opportunities in STEM. We are looking for rising 9th grade students who are interested in exploring careers in the STEM field. This summer program requires a commitment of 65 hours from June 1st through August 2nd.

Please note this application closes March 13th, 2026. Once applications have been reviewed the Texas State Aquarium education team will contact applicants for interviews.
9th grade Aquateens will be given the opportunity to sign up for shifts within the following areas:
- Guest Services– Greet and open doors for guests, serve as TSA mascot, complete guest surveys, and act as directional guides and sources of information for guests.
- H-E-B Splash Park– Help with keeping the area clean, and kids safe and entertained.
- Education– Learn about the habitats and animals at the Aquarium, assist visitors, and answer questions about the exhibits.
- Workforce Development– Gain tools, resources, and experiences to succeed in STEM related careers.
With ongoing participation in this program, students will have more extensive opportunities within our immersive and internship programs. Once accepted into the Aquateen Academy, as long as all requirements are met, there is no need to reapply each year.
