About the Role
Join our team as a Development Associate – Land & Planning, supporting the Senior Technical Manager in managing land access, development, and planning approvals across all stages of project development and delivery. This role focuses on renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
As a Development Associate – Land & Planning, you will play a key role in driving planning and environmental outcomes, managing consultants, and ensuring projects meet regulatory requirements while maximizing value. The position involves travel to project sites and engagement with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
Assist in managing planning and environmental aspects of energy development and delivery phase assets.
Oversee consultants to ensure alignment with budgets and timelines.
Support the development team in delivering high-value energy assets.
Build strong relationships with CIMIC Group Companies (including CPB Contractors and UGL) and external stakeholders.
Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging opportunities.
About You
We’re looking for a motivated, adaptable professional with:
Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Environmental Engineering, Construction, Geology, or Science.
3–5+ years’ experience in statutory/strategic planning and environmental approvals (EIS/EES), ideally in the energy sector.
Proven ability to manage development approvals across NSW, VIC, and QLD.
Familiarity with cultural heritage processes (PAHT, CHMPs, CHMAs).
Strong understanding of land access negotiations and stakeholder engagement.
Excellent knowledge of planning regulations and risk management.
Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
