Your Role:
As a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Officer , you will provide the support required to Line Management so that they can execute their SHE responsibilities in line with the Rentokil Initial SHE Management system and obligations set out in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act. You must work closely with each Department Head and have regular meetings to provide the necessary transparency on departmental issues and support the necessary corrective action to address matters. The role of the SHE Officer is a support role to proactively work with Line Managers, enabling them to execute their legal obligations for SHE in line with continuous improvements in all areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
SHE Management System
- Implement and maintain the SHE Management System.
- Provide SHE support to line managers and colleagues.
- Assist in addressing SHE non-conformances and ensure compliance.
- Facilitate corrective action plans as needed.
- Maintain essential SHE records and documentation.
- Raise concerns at meetings regarding unresolved issues.
- Support the SHE Accreditation Process.
Incident Reporting & Investigations
- Assist line managers in reporting and investigating accidents and incidents per the SHE Management System.
- Help complete outstanding investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Update and validate Incident and Accident reports on SINA and provide monthly reports to the General Manager.
Risk Management
- Assist in implementing SHE processes and documentation
- Implement SHE risk control measures
- Complete Site Specific Risk Assessments per SHE Management System Procedure
- Support Emergency Planning
- Assist management with trials following SHE approval process
SHE Training
- Support SHE learning programs to ensure employees have the necessary skills for safe and environmentally sound practices.
- Attend Proof Of Delivery (POD) and branch meetings as scheduled.
- Conduct SHE induction for new employees, as feasible.
- Maintain a training register for each business.
Monthly Reporting
- Support Line Manager in the completion of the Monthly SHE Report
- Review SHE Report (quality assessment) and forward report to National SHE Team
- Review minutes from the report and ensure that outstanding items are addressed
- Raise any areas that have not been adequately addressed with the Business Manager
Workers Compensation
- Serve as backup for the Line Manager during Medical Appointments
- Facilitate meetings between injured workers and line managers regarding Return To Work rights and obligations
- Ensure timely lodging of claims and follow up on their status
- Forward the necessary documentation to Human Resources
- Assist Line Management with daily claims management, including RTW plans and medical certificates
- Monitor the injured worker's recovery progress with regular meetings
- Liaise with Human Resources and Insurer on strategy
- Participate in quarterly claims reviews
- Attend conciliations as needed
- Update the Shared Drive with relevant information
SHE Culture

- Facilitate and attend SHE meetings, training, and networking events

Mergers & Acquisitions
- Participate in Integration Meetings with other functional areas
- Implement the agreed Integration plan for SHE within the required timeframes
Fumigation Auditing
- The role involves managing safety protocols and compliance standards for fumigation, ensuring the health and safety of employees, customers, and the environment during high-risk operations.
Policies and Procedures
- Ensure 100% compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Train staff to understand and follow all policies, including OH&S, HR, and Security.
- Wear necessary protective clothing and equipment as required.
RequirementsQualifications:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- NEBOSH Certificate / Diploma
- At least 5 years’ experience in the field of occupational safety and health.
- Proven experience in conducting site inspections, incident investigations, and delivering safety training.
- Familiarity with Trinidad and Tobago's Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act 2004) and basic environmental regulations.
