ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following description of work to be performed by this individual is not intended to be all-inclusive. Rather, it focuses on the major tasks that must be accomplished.
Safety
- Ensure that safety is always the number one priority at Alexandria Industries; promote and support a safe work environment and safety oriented culture by following all safety programs and guidelines
- Lead the development, monitoring, and use of data to apply a continuous improvement mindset that will ensure environmental, health and safety programs are world class
- Develop controls for identified hazards and coordinate the implementation of controls from hazard analysis
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA requirements and regulations throughout all A.I. facilities
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies and procedures
- Identify, evaluate, and provide guidance on eliminating hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace utilizing root cause analysis
- Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices
- Manage the corrective actions and ensure the improvements are implemented timely
- Provide direction for all compliance regulations
- Develop, implement and train compliance plans for all OSHA regulations:
- Lock Out/Tag Out
- Safety Inspections
- Employee Right to Understand
- Forklift and Crane Operator Training
- Fire and Emergency Evacuation
- Minnesota AWAIR
- Hazard Communication
- Noise Exposure
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Portable Fire Extinguisher
- Emergency Responders
- Haz Mat Operator levels
- Monitor, revise and implement ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements
- Plan, develop, implement and deliver all safety training for new employee orientation and annual required programs
- Develop annual safety and health goals, and provide direction and accountability to those goals
- Work with the site leadership at every A.I. facility while providing a clear direction on EHS requirements
- Communication and provide leadership and direction to Safety Committees at all sites
- Review all safety committee meeting minutes and safety inspection reports
- Promote safety and health awareness through use of internal company communication tools such as TV monitors, newsletters, monthly safety share, team huddle meetings, education, etc.
- Work with department leadership to develop safety goals and programs
- Use data and research best practices and/or programs to continuously move all locations to being world class in the area of environmental, health and safety
- MNStar compliance
- Develop and implement a safety system in place at APM, AEM and AES that is based on the model at AEC to head in the direction of voluntary compliance as a Star Company
- Compliance, record keeping, reporting, contractor requirements, data collection and review, and continuous improvements as required to maintain Star compliance
- Workers Compensation
- Monitor lost-time injuries/illnesses and worker’s compensation claims
- Lead incident/illness investigations. Reviews incident investigation reports and takes action
- Review data, statistics, and analyze to develop and implement changes and improvements
- Case management with HR Team
- Work in partnership with the department leadership to provide direction on return-to-work
- Develop, coordinate and lead all Safety and Observation Audits. Review audit results and create action/improvement plans to ensure employee health and safety
- Create and train safety-related courses with support from the training department
Environmental
- Develop and implement plans to keep Alexandria Industries in compliance with all city/state/federal and other regulatory agency rules and requirements regarding environmental issues.

- Create and manage a system to assure that all permits and licenses, information requests, record keeping and filing required for environmental compliance are current and valid
- Monitor, revise and implement ongoing updates in environmental regulations, laws or reporting requirements
Health
- Coordinate programs with HR Manager to promote and positively impact employee well-being
- Ability to travel to all locations (15-20%)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Safety or related program required
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in environmental safety or safety in a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of experience in Project Management
- Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High level of technical expertise
- Ability to apply skills to continuous improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety
- Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning, organizational and implementation skills
- Collaborative with a team-player mindset
- Ability to provide exceptional leadership and support to team members
- Ability to effectively manage people and processes
- Ability to take part in continuous education and training
- Flexible scheduling of hours is necessary to meet 24/7 hour demands of the company
Starting salary range: $100,000-$112,000
