Job Summary
DT Midstream is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to join its Interstate Pipeline Environmental Team. The Environmental Specialist II will be responsible for multimedia environmental compliance efforts within their area of responsibility. They will work alongside operations, construction, and engineering personnel in the field to maintain DT Midstream’s high level of environmental stewardship. The position will be located in Channahon, Illinois and will provide support for all of DTM’s Midwestern assets. Candidates should have progressive multi-media environmental compliance and remediation experience as well as being able to work independently with little oversight, meet project timelines, and maintain a high level of work product.
This is a regional position covering the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wisconsin with about 20% travel.
Key Accountabilities
An Environmental Specialist II will perform these duties
- Compliance Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist with the compiling and submitting of environmental reports (Title V, Waste, Quad O, LDAR, etc.)
- Assist operations with their compliance efforts and recordkeeping requirements to demonstrate compliance.
- Conduct on-site facility audits to demonstrate compliance and identify areas of improvement.
- Aid in the implementation of new operational compliance measures required by new regulations.
- Interact with State agency representatives during construction activities, permitting applications, and compliance inspections.
- Participate in spill drills and tabletop exercises. Provide emergency response support for the assigned area. The Environmental Specialist is on call 24/7 to respond to emergency events including reporting spills/releases to agencies.
- Management of SPCC, FERC, Construction Stormwater and Waste Management inspection programs.
- Observe and schedule LDAR inspections, stack testing and sampling activities as required.
- Participate in and manage Environmental Inspection efforts during the construction of pipelines and facilities.
- Work to close-out permits following the construction of pipelines and facilities
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- 3 years of progressive environmental experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry
- B.S. or B.A in Environmental Science or related science/engineering degree
- Experience in lieu of degree will be evaluated

Other Qualifications Preferred:
- Experience conducting Environmental Inspections during pipeline construction
- FERC, Title V and Solid Waste compliance management.
- Experience working within the states of Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
- Exposure to Wetland permitting for construction projects
- Knowledge and experience with individual state air quality, environmental programs, the Clean Water Act, and the Clean Air Act

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works both in a business office setting and on-site facility/construction areas. In the course of working on-site the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, including cold/hot, wet and/or humid conditions, and may work near moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration (see physical requirements above). The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office but may become loud at the project site.
