OCCUPATIONAL, SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT OFFICER (Interns)
Interns are invited from suitably qualified person to fill the position of Occupational, Safety, Health & Environment Officer to be attached to the Safety Department.
We’re looking for a motivated intern to join our team and help keep our workplace safe and healthy. This is a great opportunity to learn about safety practices, gain hands-on experience, and support real-world safety programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, OHS Act of Guyana 99:10 and other safety regulations.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), strong communication skills, and attention to detail.
- Certifications: CPR, EMT, Work at height, Fire Marshal.
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVES
The OHSE Intern is responsible for providing service consistent with established and prescribed standards to ensure overall customer satisfaction and company efficiency. You will support the ongoing development, maintenance and training on safety and environmental programmes to maintain compliance with regulatory occupational safety and health standards.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Conduct Hazard Assessments: Evaluate processes and equipment to identify potential hazards.
- Inspect Work Environments: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and identify unsafe conditions.
- Develop Safety Programs: Assist in creating and implementing safety policies and procedures.
- Provide Training: Educate employees on safety practices and regulations.
- Accident Investigations: Participate in investigating incidents to determine causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
