The Role
We are seeking a Sustainability Officer to lead the implementation, coordination, and ongoing delivery of the Group’s sustainability reporting, with a primary focus on AASB S2. This role will sit at the intersection of financial reporting, sustainability, and audit, supporting both external reporting requirements and internal month-end and year-end processes. The role will also play a key part in uplifting sustainability capability across the business through training and stakeholder engagement.
About you
You are a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, comfortable working in a developing and evolving regulatory environment. Proactive and well organised, you are able to manage competing priorities effectively and remain focused during busy reporting cycles. You are a confident communicator, capable of influencing and educating stakeholders, and you bring a collaborative mindset with a willingness to roll up your sleeves when required. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant or auditor with a growing specialisation in sustainability reporting.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end sustainability reporting in line with AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and implementation of a climate reporting platform.
- Design, document, and maintain sustainability reporting frameworks, policies, controls, and data collection processes across the business.
- Coordinate sustainability data and disclosures with finance, operations, risk, ESG, legal, auditors, and external advisors to ensure accuracy, completeness, and audit-readiness.
- Prepare sustainability content for annual reports, regulatory disclosures, and quarterly Audit Risk & Sustainability Committee updates, including climate risk, scenario analysis, and governance disclosures.
- Support financial reporting and audit processes, integrating sustainability information into existing financial controls, month-end and year-end close activities.
- Build capability across the organisation by training stakeholders, translating complex sustainability and accounting requirements into practical guidance, and driving continuous improvement and future assurance readiness.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Background in external audit, internal audit, or technical accounting.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting processes, month-end close, and audit requirements.
- Working knowledge of, or strong interest in, AASB S2 (or IFRS S2).
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing data from various parts of the business.
