Pay: $17.50/hour
Reports To: Supervisor, Unit Manager, Assistant Manager and/or Manager
Schedule: Must be able to work weekends and holidays; weekday hours also available
Hours: 8:45 AM – Closing, dependent on weather and guest attendance; schedule subject to change through the
spring and summer; must be available to work Harvest Glow and Holiday Lights
Position Summary
Senior Associates provide assistance to other staf f members & ensure that our guests enjoy a safe, fun-f illed and
educational experience at the Bronx Zoo while providing them with the best value ticket option for their visit.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Sales & Service
• Actively promote Admissions products to guests by communicating in a f riendly, ef f icient, and ef fective manner
• Handle membership inquiries, answering questions, and explaining benef its.
• Process new and renewal membership sales
• Process all forms of payment through the point-of-sale system, adhering to all WCS cash handling policies
• Assist other staf f members in craf ting selling skills.
Operations
• Providing superior service to guests, including maintaining general knowledge of park attractions and amenities,
• Answering questions and f inding ways to create a positive and educational guest experience
• Facilitate entry for guests waiting to enter the park, rides, and attractions, using safety as a guide when directing
pedestrian traf f ic
• Ensure that all guests entering the park, rides, and attractions possess the appropriate ticket type and/or
membership with the appropriate expiration date – ensure accurate scanning of all ticket types.
• Directing guests seeking stroller parking to the appropriate locations and assisting in the cleaning and distribution
of strollers and wheelchairs.
• Remain at assigned post(s) for long periods of time and may be required to travel long distances to other
locations within the park as instructed by management
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas
• In absence of a lead, assist in troubleshooting any guest service, operational, and/or employee issues.
• Take an active role in the operational training of new staf f .
• Assisting the team in carrying out any additional operational duties
Internal Qualification Requirements
Minimum age of 18 or older
• Previous experience as an Admissions Sales Associate at WCS or related venue preferred
• Prior sales experience preferred
• Customer service oriented
• Basic verbal, written, computer, mathematical, and communication skills
• Must be comfortable with handling cash and equivalents, previous cash handling experience preferred
• Proactive and outgoing nature – work ef f iciently and ability to multitask
• Ability to frequently move objects weighing up to 25 pounds – such as but not limited to boxes of maps, and, signs
• Dependability and reliability
• Ability to stay outdoors for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions
