The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The Front Gate Assistant Manager will assist in the day-to-day operation of the Guest Experience Department. Leadership is exercised under established guidelines for Tickets staff in conjunction with and in the absence of supervisory personnel. The Front Gate Assistant Manager will work closely with the Front Gate Manager.

- Constantly exhibit a guest service attitude, a smile, and an obvious interest in guest comfort and service.
- Communicate with the public in a courteous and tactful manner and assist guests with questions and directions to various areas of the Zoo. Address the guest - do not wait to be asked.
- Remove trash and debris from public areas; i.e. pick up litter whenever you see it.
- Upholds all company policies as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures, Team Member Handbook, and Code of Business Conduct.
- Set the highest example of exceptional guests service.
- Guide staff towards improving our customer service skills on a daily basis.
- Assist in maintaining the flow of ticket scanning and guest services lines, to ensure high quality guest satisfaction.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve them as professionally as possible.
- Ensure Tickets personnel are in proper work area where assigned.
- Deliver excess money to Cash room in compliance with the Cash Handling Policies.
- Deliver change to cashiers when requested.
- Handle and account for large sums of money.
- Ensure daily deposits and cash outs are completed by cashiers.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and stock to ensure day-to-day operations of guest experience is not affected.
- Assist in training of new employees with cash handling, ticket scanning, and daily duties.
- Assist in determining daily lunch break as related to customer demands.
- Assist in creating daily work schedules for Tickets employees.
- Work as a cashier or ticket scanner as needed.
- Oversees Tickets staff in the absence of department manager.
- Reconcile daily income and admission reports.
- Become knowledgeable of the Coretech ticketing system.
- Track daily and monthly attendance reports and ensures reports are given to the cash room.
- Responsible for school group invoices, statements, and refunds.
- Assist with the front desk duties as needed.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, the San Antonio Zoo recommends the following skills/qualifications:
- Able to follow oral and written instructions; and share them with employees.
- Ability to use various types of electronic cash registers, check verification machines and credit card machines.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement cash control techniques.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and after-hour assignments.
- 1 year of leadership experience preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Two years cash register/cash–handling experience.
- No history of dishonesty, larceny or theft.
