- Bachelor of Science degree in occupational safety, industrial relations, construction management, or related field. Safety related professional certification helpful, but not required.
- Five (5) years’ verifiable EH & S experience in management or role with progressive responsibilities; experience with a multi-site and multi-state organization highly preferred.
- Have a detailed understanding of related laws and regulations (OSHA, workers comp., etc.) and site-specific (customer or MEI) safety guidelines and Best Known Methods; must have the ability to advise others on applicable regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to disseminate information across all levels of staff.
- Must be self-directed, possess good time management skills, and perform safety-related tasks with required levels of urgency.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), proficiency with Excel or similar software necessary; able to learn new software quickly.
- Bilingual in English / Spanish helpful but not required.
- Ability to think critically and have sound judgement and decision-making skills; able to make a determination or problem-solve when information is insufficient.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
This position will frequently perform physical, hands-on work. An Environmental Health & Safety Site Manager must be able to perform General Physical Activities — activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work off the ground at varying heights, and not be affected by moving machinery or parts. Willing and able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and/or outdoors in all types of weather, and over uneven ground or terrain. Work will also be performed in a normal, climate-controlled office environment, and will frequently work in a seated position, including work at a computer; manual dexterity necessary and will use senses involving sight, touch, and audiological. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds may be necessary.
