SUMMARY & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Welltower is seeking a Summer Internâ¯to be a key member of the Welltower Sustainability Team. We are looking for a hardworking upcoming Junior or Senior pursuing a college degree with a passion for the intersection of Sustainability and Real Estate, along with a desire to learn about how a Sustainability team operates within a REIT. The role will require strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and communications skills, with prior finance knowledge preferred.
The Sustainability Summer Intern will project manage meetings, milestones, and management reporting and is heavily involved in Welltower’s Sustainability data collection. You will coordinate with stakeholders across all business segments to gather data to above all learn first-hand of what it's like to be a part of a sustainability team. This position will be based in our New York City office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop Real Estate Sustainability insights and thought leadership to support internal and external partners, investors, and other Sustainability stakeholders.
- Produce Welltower’s Summer Sustainability Newsletter to educate Welltower stakeholders on upcoming sustainability developments.
- Support the analysis and aggregation of Sustainability data in Energy Star Portfolio Manager, to meet global reporting and communication needs.
- Participate in the further development and implementation of Welltower’s Sustainability program and communication and disclosure plan, including the annual Sustainability Report and GRESB.
- Monitor developing Sustainability regulatory reporting requirements and research property-level compliance with municipal benchmarking and performance ordinances.

TRAVEL
Some out of area and overnight travel may be expected.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree, preferably in Sustainability, Real Estate, Finance, Business, or Data Analytics.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Background in corporate sustainability concepts is a plus, including use of tools such as ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
- High attention to detail and strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- Strong project and time management skills to drive cross functional and ambitious plans into actionable business outcomes.
- A critical thinker, nimble with financial and non-financial analysis, with a focus on concrete and quantitative or qualitative back-up for positions taken.
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to evolving business needs.
- Written communication skills include the ability to create PowerPoint decks and write content for reports, social postings, and policies.
- Verbal communication skills include the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with operating partners, vendors, and other internal teams, as well as effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external stakeholders.
- Team player with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and drive to further sustainability programs.
- Inspires and builds trust among teams and internal and external stakeholders.

COMPENSATION - the pay range for this role in NYC is $32.50/hour
