Schedule: Monday-Friday Afternoon/Evening (no regular weekends)
Hours: 30-40 hours per week
Weekend Work: Only in emergency or exceptional coverage situations
Location: Based out of Cottonwood Heights, Utah (in office and field-based)
Position Summary
WSI Trash & Recycling Valet is seeking an Area Manager - Field Operations to provide multi-site operational leadership across assigned service areas. This role is responsible for overseeing nightly field execution, staffing coverage, service quality, and technician performance across multiple multifamily communities.
The Area Manager performs district-level operational responsibilities over defined areas and zones, with scope and territory expanding toward a full District Manager position. This role reports directly to the Regional Manager and works closely with District Managers, field supervisors, and executive leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
This is a hands-on, field-driven leadership role requiring strong judgment, adaptability, and the ability to lead teams in live operational environments.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Leadership

Provide real-time operational support via phone, text, and email to Service Technicians, Field Service Technicians, a Field Resource Supervisor, property management teams, residents, and executive staff.

Ensure all nightly trash and recycling valet routes are fully staffed Monday through Friday evenings; coordinate substitutes and provide direct coverage when needed

Lead field execution across assigned areas, ensuring compliance with WSI service standards and property-specific requirements

Make informed operational decisions balancing staff needs, client expectations, and resident experience
Staffing, Training & Quality Control

Conduct regular onsite audits to evaluate technician performance, resident compliance, and service quality

Lead working interviews, shadow training, and onsite coaching for Service Technicians and supervisors

Identify operational gaps and collaborate with leadership to refine or develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Client & Issue Resolution

Proactively identify and resolve service issues before escalation

Professionally de-escalate resident or property concerns during live operations

Respond effectively to service disruptions, emergencies, or staffing shortages
Operational Support & Setup

Assist with new community launches, including trash and recycling bin distribution, flyer delivery, and service setup

Coordinate supply runs to WSI facilities for PPE, containers, liners, and operational materials

Maintain clear communication with administrative and operations teams regarding field conditions and needs
Travel & Coverage

Provide temporary operational coverage in outlying or developing markets as needed

Travel assignments may range from one week up to one month, depending on operational demand and staffing needs

Travel is planned in coordination with leadership and focused on service continuity, training, and market stabilization
Qualifications
Required

High school diploma or GED
-
Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory or operations management experience

Valid driver's license with active auto insurance
- Authorized to work in the United States and pass a criminal background check

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work indoors/outdoors in varying weather conditions

Ability to walk properties, climb stairs, and remain active for extended periods
- Ability to travel minimum 1 week per month or more depending on operational needs
