Hempel is looking for a Senior Environmental Engineer?
The Senior Environmental Engineer will ensure HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) compliance related to Hempel Campus located in Lundtofte, Denmark.
The Senior Environmental Engineer will also project manage surveys and remediation projects related to soil and groundwater contamination at Hempel sites around the world.
Both responsibility areas requires close cross-functional collaboration with key stakeholders internally and externally including Operations, Procurement, Environemental Consultants, Local Authorities and more.
What will your main responsibilities be?
Regulatory Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement:
Ensure compliance with Danish and EU environmental requirements.
Liaise with local authorities, regulatory bodies and relevant stakeholders
Monitor and interpret changes in legislation and communicate implications to relevant departments.
Environmental Management:
Assist the Global HSE team in the continuous improvement of collecting and analyzing data requirements for the Campus ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certifications
Oversee environmental impact assessments and sustainability initiatives for the Campus alongside the relevant departments.
Manage waste, emissions, and resource efficiency programs along with the relevant departments (R&D etc)
Certification Management:
Help to maintain and improve ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 certifications.
Coordinate internal and external audits for the Campus, ensuring readiness and compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with commercial, finance, P&C, R&D and executive teams to embed regulatory and environmental considerations into business processes.
Work alongside the Sustainability and Group HSE Departments to ensure relevant ESG and HSE commitments are managed within the Campus.
Deliver training and awareness programs across departments.
Risk Management & Reporting:
Identify and mitigate environmental and regulatory risks.
Prepare reports for senior management and regulatory authorities.
Track KPIs and performance metrics related to environmental and regulatory compliance.
What are the global projects responsibilities ?
Soil and GW contaminations:
Project manage Environmental Site Assessments (ESA phase I and II).
Project manage Execution of soil and ground water contamination/pollution remediation.
Contract management related to consultants and contractors
Building contamination:
Business systems:
Develop and maintain policies, guide lines, etc. for handling of buildings, soil and GW contamination including securing contamination issues are included in site de-com processes.
What do we require from you?
Master of science in environmental engineering
5+ years’ experience with environmental management in dk based
Experience with soil and ground water contaminated sites preferable.
Strong knowledge of Danish and EU environmental legislation
Experience with sustainability reporting and ESG frameworks is an advantage.
Experience with working with environmental authorities
International experience preferable

Koordinere interne og eksterne audits af vores kvalitetssystemer og støtte løbende forbedringer (fx ISO 14001 og ISO 50001).
Deltage i miljømæssige konsekvensvurderinger og initiativer indenfor bæredygtighed.
Koordinere programmer for affald, emissioner og ressourceeffektivitet.
Gennemføre miljøtræning og awareness‑sessioner.
Risikostyring & rapportering
Identificere og afbøde miljø- og lovgivningsmæssige risici.
Udarbejde rapporter til ledelse og myndigheder.
Overvåge KPI’er og lignende målinger for overholdelse af miljøkrav.

Hvad leder vi efter hos dig?
Kandidatgrad i miljøteknologi.
Mindst 5 års erfaring med miljøledelse i Danmark.
Erfaring med forurenede lokaliteter (jord/grundvand) er en fordel.
Solidt kendskab til dansk og EU’s miljølovgivning.
Erfaring med samarbejde med miljømyndigheder.
International erfaring er et plus.
