We are looking for a potential candidate with strong commitment and environmental knowledge and experience to join our Generation Business Group (GBG) HSEQ Business Delivery Team of CLP Power Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Department. The appointee will be responsible for environmental management including monitoring, inspection, analysis, data compilation and reporting. The role ensures the implementation of Environment Management System (ISO14001) in GBG, ensures compliance in environmental related regulations and obligations and implementation environmental initiatives for continual improvement. Major duties include:
Key Responsibilities:
Capture and monitor massive environmental data including air, water and waste, carry out analysis and report to sustainability, government and other stakeholders.
Support sustainability strategies including circular economy, nature and decarbonization.
Support air emission monitoring system and analyze emission performance for power plants.
Develop and design with facilitating AI tools for environmental data monitoring, verification and report compilation.
Monitor and target setting for various environmental key performance indicators including emissions quantity, quality of effluent discharge from water treatment facilities and material recycling in GBG.
Liaise with HKSAR Environmental Protection Department and support environmental licensing matters including registration, licences renewal and variation for GBG.
Promote sustainability and go green culture in GBG.
Provide strategic support for managing environmental risks and opportunities in GBG to assure full compliance of associated environmental regulations.
Support power stations and project teams on environmental control and improvement.
Review and update emergency action plans for environmental incidents and scenarios
Support EIA projects and corresponding EM&A program.
Facilitate line departments to implement ISO 14001 environmental management system.
Develop and apply new technology for enhancement in environmental matters.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science / Engineering, Science, Engineering or related field.
A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience is preferably in environmental management, engineering and sustainability within an industrial organization, with exposure to power plant, oil and gas plant, chemical laboratory, chemical processing plant and utilities.
Possesses working knowledge of ISO14001 and familiar with environmental and sustainability management, monitoring and reporting methods related to industrial designs and technologies, preferably within power and utility sectors.
Sound knowledge and understanding of local environmental policies and regulatory environmental requirements, environmental management system, plus knowledge of environmental development trend & focus regulatory environmental requirements.
Experience in setting up and managing environmental monitoring programmes and reporting frameworks, monitoring tools, equipment, and techniques, data gathering on various environmental aspects (e.g., air quality, water quality, waste management, noise, subsidence, etc.) and familiar with electricity generation process or chemical plant is preferred.
Strong numerical reasoning, interpretation skill, problem solving and analytical skills, with strategic thinking and ability to operate effectively under tight schedule and pressure.
Self-initiated, analytical, well-organised, attention to details, tactful and ability to work as part of a team and individually.
Solid experience to handle massive data by IT platform or AI tools is advantage.
Solid experience in engineering or laboratory for environment, material and fuel is an advantage.
Ability to take lead and coordinate among cross-functional teams in managing environmental issues.
Good computer literacy in MS office and analytical tools (e.g. Power BI, Analytics, python, VBA)
Good communication and presentation skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese.Ability to speak Cantonese and Putonghua would be an advantage.
Candidates with less experience or fresh graduate will also be considered for the entry position.
