Job Description and Duties
Under the supervision of the Administrative Services Chief, a Staff Services Manager I, the incumbent will act as liaison for employee benefits and payroll issues between District 1 employees and the Transactions Services Branch in the Headquarters Division of Human Resources, administer and monitor payroll distribution to ensure that all District 1 and North Region employees receive their pay warrants in a timely manner, process wage garnishments, provide onboarding information to new hires during New Employee Orientation, receive and distribute personnel‑related documents and information to appropriate designated staff, and act as a backup for the District Staff Central Liaison and other clerical positions within the Administration Division.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Personnel Technician I exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Working Conditions
Position located at 1656 Union Street, Eureka, Humboldt County
Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
The employee will work in a climate‑controlled office under artificial lighting, within a confined space such as a cubicle or workstation utilizing modular furniture, and may also be required to travel on occasion.
This position will be full‑time office based. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
