We are currently seeking an Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) Specialist for our facility in Painesville, OH.
Styropek’s Painesville plant is located about 30 miles northeast of Cleveland, OH. The site manufactures Expandable Polystyrene products used in the construction and packaging industries.

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing support to the Environment, Health, Safety and Security (EHS&S) Coordinator to ensure compliance with regulatory, occupational health, and site-specific requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide general support for Operations Leader and EHSS Coordinator (including action item follow-up from various audits, MID entry, assembling documentation packages, etc.).
- Inspect hazardous waste pad and tracks all hazardous drums on the plant site and prepares for shipment.
- Participate in Haz Pad inspections, ISO Audits and root cause investigations.
- Prepare equipment for maintenance in accordance with lockout/tagout and confined space vessel entry procedures.
- Support annual plan for monthly safety topics and author assigned topics per the plan.
- Maintain SDS documentation and supports the new chemical approval process.
- Acquire regulatory samples in the field as directed by EHSS Coordinator including wastewater sampling, storm water sampling, storm filter evaluations, etc.
- Coordination and tracking of Mandatory EHS&S training.
- Maintain training administration system and training compliance data.
- Ensure that OH policies and procedures are maintained.
- Ensure all regulatory testing is completed/documented as per OSHA guidelines and Regulatory Requirements (respirator fit, hearing surveillance, Hep B, etc.)
- Ensure that OH medical record systems and other required records are maintained according to both regulatory and policy requirements.
- Support the third-party management of disability processes including coordinating return to work, accommodation process, and evaluating fitness to work needs by working with Medical Director.
- Manage and support coordination of WC injury management, including coordinating with Medical Director.
- Support vendor-provided Drug & Alcohol random testing.
- Maintain Job Demand Analysis for all identified roles.
- Participate in ergonomic studies and improvements.
- Support Operation Clean Sweep “best practices” and required reporting.
- Support emergency response preparedness and procedures for injuries, spills, fires, and releases.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field, with 1-3 years of experience OR 2-year technical or associate’s degree with 3-5 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of ISO and Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security procedures and document control requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of SAP system
- Proven drive, and history of continuous improvement
