Job Summary
The EHS Supervisor leads and coordinates environmental, health, and safety programs for the site, including program development and implementation, policy reviews, training, and facility audits/inspections. Serves as the site EHS trainer for all contractors and employees. This position is also responsible for the site’s environmental, health, and safety compliance program.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains the company EHS plan, programs and permits in a manner consistent with company policy, as well as federal, state, and county laws/permits/guidelines.
- Coordinates with Operations to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements on the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
- Serves as the site coordinator and CAL-OSHA contact for VPP. Submits all required reports to regulatory agencies.
- Prepares and maintains the following Industrial Hygiene Programs: hazardous communication, hearing conservation, and respiratory fit testing. Including maintenance of Safety Data Sheets, audiometric testing, etc.
- Plans and implements programs to train managers, employees, and contractors in worksite safety practices, fire prevention, PPE, and correct handling of equipment and materials. This includes new employee orientation.
- Prepares and submits accident and near miss reports required by corporate EHS.
- Oversees the administration of workers’ compensation program. Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries.
- Maintains EHS files and records, including safety hours worked.
- Conducts annual drills to ensure plant readiness in the event of a major emergency.
- Updates and maintains Action Item Matrix to make sure all safety issues and concerns are tracked and addressed.
- Acts as the primary Facility Security Officer (FSO) – Oversees Marsec security levels for the facility to include drill packages with the Coast Guard.
Long Beach Additional Duties:
- Fills in for site Operations Manager and QA as needed.
- Assists with purchase requisition creation and discrepancy reconciliation
- Assists with receiving of incoming materials and services
- Serves as backup or Shipping Clerk. This includes:
- Checks in/out trucks, prints loading documents, and provides paperwork to drivers
- Prepares and provides copies of weight tickets to customers
- Provides seals for all pneumatic loads, placard labeling, and enclosed trailers.
- Works with carriers, sales, customer service, and transportation to ensure all customer issues are promptly resolved.
Qualifications - Minimum Education, Experience and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field preferred.
- 3 years’ experience in EHS in an industrial environment.
- Experience in environmental permitting processes.
- Experience in OSHA 300 reporting.
- Experience in OSHA 5119 - CAL OSHA preferred.
- Certified Facility Security Officer preferred.
- Working knowledge of SAP and Velocity preferred.
- Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
The base salary range for this role is $67,100 - $111,900. Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location.
