Job Details:
For Spring 2026, the McCombs School of Business is looking for a tenacious, impact-minded, independent student employee to support the Global Sustainability Leadership Institute. The GSLI is a cross-campus entity that supports education in sustainable finance, impact entrepreneurship and innovation, corporate sustainability, and sustainability communications. The Institute offers experiential learning opportunities, public events, courses, a minor for undergraduates, and faculty research. Candidates can learn more on our website. The Institute is a partnership between the McCombs School of Business and the Moody College of Communication, and has physical offices in GSB/CBA and Rowling Hall.
Purpose:
The GSLI is hiring a communications student associate for Spring 2026 to work with returning team members on social media, blogs, newsletters, and other communications needs. This student will ideally train with our graduating associates and return in the Fall of 2026 depending on performance.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a receptionist for the GSLI Hub (CBA 3.302) for 10 hours a week; other GSLI duties should be performed while at the front desk during this time
- Help plan and execute GSLI in-person events; day-of duties may include setting up, registering attendees, monitoring questions, picking up trash, moving decorations, networking, and more;
- Communications Lead: Up to 10 hours a week; $15/hour for undergraduates or $18/hour for graduate students
- Create program brochures and event flyers
- Proactively plan and manage social media and LinkedIn posts; this includes working with GSLI students to feature them on various mediums
- Write blogs for the GSLI’s Medium account “Impact Connections”
- Compile information for and format newsletters in Eloqua or other UT-approved systems
- Create updated program videos using original footage and GSLI-owned footage
- Take pictures at GSLI events if no professionals are hired
- Track outcomes of various communications channels (like social media engagement, newsletter opens, etc)
- Support any new GSLI-related communications offerings
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must have and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Must be able to work in an office setting at least 8 hours a week. Some event work across campus will also be needed for 1-5 hours a week, and some work may be done remotely if not finished in the office.
- Optional: Work-Study award for the semester.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ideal candidates will have previous work experience in UT Austin administrative roles and/or marketing.
- We are especially interested in McCombs students, Moody College of Communication students, and students studying any aspect of sustainability in any UT department.
- Experience with the GSLI and familiarity with sustainability terminology are a plus!

Hourly Rate:
- $15 starting for undergraduates/$18 for graduates, with the opportunity for raises with longevity and performance
Working Conditions:
- Work performed in standard office conditions and some event locations across the UT Austin campus.
- Repetitive use of keyboard at a workstation.
Schedule Work Shift:
- 10 hours per week
- Position ends on 05/31/2026 for the Spring and 12/31/2026 if rehired in the Fall
- Must be available to occasionally work evenings and weekends
- Rehire eligible in the Spring based on performance
