Cook Specialist II
Job Description and Duties
Will Consider Cook Specialist I. Prepares, cooks and dispenses balanced menus from the basic food groups for large groups of employees, while providing a hospitable living and dining environment. Plan menus, requisition supplies; receive, inspect, store and inventory supplies; maintains such records for inventories. Cleans kitchen, washes dishes and maintains all areas of kitchen (and dormitory as needed) in a clean and sanitary condition. May assist the supervisor in training lesser experience staff; keep minor records and reports.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Cook Specialist II/I exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Permanent, intermittent positions and are not subject to Post and Bid. A permanent, intermittent employee may work up to 1,500 hours in any 12 consecutive months. The number of hours and schedule of work shall be determined based upon the operational needs of each department.

Working Conditions
Position located at 2243 Cornelian Dr. South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment. Work alone or with others in sometimes confining kitchen space and/or dormitory areas. May be required to work overtime due to storms of when the Supervisor deems that it is in the best interest of the State; shifts may include weekends and holidays.

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
