ARRO Consulting is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Engineer to join our Environmental Compliance group. This role is ideal for an engineer passionate about helping clients maintain compliance across multiple environmental disciplines — including air quality, wastewater, stormwater, waste, and water management. Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:
Interpret environmental laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels to ensure client compliance. Prepare and submit reports such as Tier II, TRI, AIMs, 26R, hazardous waste, annual combustion, and air emissions reports.
Permitting and Environmental Management:
Manage environmental permits for air quality, stormwater, wastewater, waste, and industrial pretreatment. Maintain compliance calendars to track key deadlines and regulatory updates.
Audits and Assessments:
Conduct compliance audits and assessments to identify risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Support clients in responding to regulatory inspections and inquiries.
Technical Expertise and Guidance:
Perform air emissions calculations, oversee stormwater sampling and data collection, and provide expertise on waste management (hazardous, residual, universal, and recyclable materials). Offer training and technical guidance to clients and internal teams.
Client Collaboration and Business Development:
Work directly with industrial and municipal clients, regulatory agencies, and laboratories to facilitate compliance efforts. Contribute to business development by assisting with proposals and presentations.
Reporting Structure
This position reports to a Senior Scientist and will collaborate closely with project managers, internal technical staff, and regulatory agencies to deliver compliance-focused solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (required).

3–5 years of experience in environmental compliance, permitting, and regulatory reporting (required).

Strong understanding of air, water, and waste regulations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and environmental compliance software.

Excellent technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, Method 9 certification, and experience with industrial pretreatment program development and enforcement.
Location
This position requires regular presence in an ARRO Consulting office. Hybrid work may be available after initial onboarding, based on experience, performance, and supervisor approval.
