Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant for the Ettling Center for Civic Leadership & Sustainability will focus on organizing, researching, and supporting transformative social justice programming and services that will enhance the University’s and the Center’s initiatives. This is a student position open to current UIW master’s or doctoral students.
Essential Functions
Assists with operational activities for the Center’s efforts and initiatives including but not limited to marketing and assessment. Provides administrative support to professional staff at the Ettling Center in coordinating events, activities, and services. Supports university and department efforts to enhance the UIW brand. Assists faculty and other university partners with promoting leadership, service learning, global missions, and civic engagement initiatives and activities. Conducts research on social justice and community service efforts, progress, and measures impacts; submit a report at the end of the semester on findings. Assists in communication processes to include the creation of online communications, editing written materials and working on designs for publications. Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift to 25 lbs of office and food pantry supplies, to include reaching overhead, bending, squatting to retrieve said materials. Ability to push/pull fully loaded pantry/equipment carts. Ability to actively engage in events and recreational activities for extended periods of time, which may be held indoors and/or outdoors. Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, community members/partners and potential/current students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in working with a non-profit or community based organization will be an asset
