- Provide expert advice on Environmental, Health & Safety (EESH) matters, supporting safe and compliant operations across the business.
- Partner with teams to maintain a safe work environment, protect the environment, and ensure compliance with legislation and company policies.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to promote consistent EESH practices across Australia and within the international ESH community.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage activities to meet EESH standards and operational improvement targets.
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental manuals, procedures, and impact statements.
- Lead and contribute to investigations into incidents, hazards, and risks, recommending practical corrective and preventative actions.
- Prepare stakeholder briefings, presentations, and supporting materials for WHS Committees and regulatory bodies.
- Actively contribute to WHS Committees, including agendas, papers, and minutes, fostering consultation and engagement.
- Participate in customer meetings, program initiatives, and business improvement activities, delivering practical EESH solutions.
- Support the induction and training of new personnel to embed a strong safety culture.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk management activities across sites to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will interpret and apply environmental, health, and safety regulations while providing clear advice to support compliant and safe operations. You will help plan and guide changes to facilities to meet evolving environmental requirements, and you’ll be responsible for identifying and evaluating licensed hazardous-waste disposal partners and overseeing proper waste handling. You’ll also take ownership of developing, reviewing, and updating environmental documentation, including spill-control procedures, manuals, and supporting materials.

- Significant experience in a similar position with a focus on partnering with management to implement solid, practical and simplistic ESH management approaches and systems.
- Proven experience working within a medium to large organisation implementing ESH Management System changes across multiple sites and programs.
- Demonstrated experience of successfully achieving changes in workplace culture with improved awareness of safety and occupational health behaviours.
- Experience in Contract Management, ideally within civil works environments, including supporting contractor oversight, understanding contract obligations, and contributing to compliance and performance monitoring.
- Significant experience conducting ESH investigations of incidents and developing reports to senior management for corrective actions and improvements.
- Significant experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of risk assessment, safety auditing and compliance programs.
- Computer literacy with an ability to produce, analyse and interpret complex reports and management information.
- Intermediate skills and experience in the use of MS Office and other relevant software packages and applications
As well as the above any experience in the following would be highly regarded:
- Demonstrated experience working within an engineering or project environment (preferably in the defence industry).
- Understanding of program management concepts and approach.
- Experience providing effective guidance, mentoring and training to other employees

Special Requirements:This role will be offered as a 12 month Fixed Term Contract with the possibility to extend or convert to permanent fulltime.
