About the Role
The Sustainability Reporting Specialist is responsible for project management related to HARMAN’s ESG strategy and corporate global sustainability reporting, which is committed to measuring and reducing HARMAN’s climate impact, implementing best practices to identify and mitigate climate-related risks, overseeing due diligence related to social matters such as human rights, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements. The Specialist serves as a key member of HARMAN’s ESG and sustainability program execution. The position is responsible for cross-functional collaboration with internal stakeholders to develop and progress HARMAN’s strategic sustainability goals and program. The Specialist will also be responsible for identifying relevant sustainability regulatory requirements and partnering with the business and other functions to meet our compliance requirements.
Your Team
This position reports to the Director, Sustainability & Corporate ESG.
What You Will Do
Reporting
Project manager for internal and external ESG reporting and disclosure activities. Develop recommendations for continuous improvement of disclosures related to all ESG data.
Lead the execution (content, standards/framework alignment, design and timeline) of HARMAN’s annual voluntary sustainability report, including cross-departmental collaboration and data collection.
Responsible for disclosure activities, consistency and alignment with strategic ESG assessment organizations (e.g., CDP, Ecovadis, RBA, SAQ, and others).
Support internal and external inquiries regarding ESG and sustainability strategy and performance data, such as from internal business units, and customers.
Partner with communications team to build upon internal sustainability messaging and engagement with global teams, including opportunities for sustainability awards and recognition programs.
Compliance
Collaborate across the business to ensure appropriate programs are in place for the company to be compliant with all sustainability-related disclosure regulations.
Identify, advise on, and ensure compliance with all global sustainability & ESG disclosure laws and regulations (e.g., CSRD, CSDDD, California SB 261 and SB253, and others).
Maintain a project tracker of internal team progress to meet sustainability-related regulatory requirements, to ensure sufficient coverage and action across HARMAN’s current and future sustainability & ESG policies.
Cross-departmental Collaboration
Manage data collection from internal stakeholders such as Business Division Sustainability Leads, Supply Chain Risk Management, Procurement, and Manufacturing to track and accelerate the progress and efficacy of HARMAN’s sustainability disclosures.
Create and manage feedback process and mechanism to share continuous improvement opportunities related to the ESG strategy to ensure regular and effective cross-functional coordination, communication, and visibility into our sustainability progress.
Implement employee engagement through training and communications initiatives across divisions and functions, to educate on sustainability best practices and drive a culture of sustainability within HARMAN.
What You Need to Be Successful
At least 5 years’ experience working in large, global, highly matrixed, and dynamic organization.
Strong knowledge and understanding of global and industry sustainability reporting.
Demonstrated experience managing corporate sustainability and ESG projects – including achievement of meaningful goals and KPIs against which the company measures sustainability performance.
The ability to assess and translate sustainability related regulatory requirements to engage business units and cross-collaboration between internal teams to ensure compliance.
A proven track record of successful cross-functional collaboration.
Outstanding communication and presentation skills. Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders on sustainability projects and initiatives.
Ability to analyze complex data, identify gaps, and ensure data integrity.
Bonus Points if You Have
Graduate level business, sustainability, law, or engineering degree a plus.
Certification in the field of sustainability, corporate responsibility, project management or similar.
Understanding of the Automotive and/or Consumer Electronics industry and manufacturing processes a plus.
