Environmental Analyst<\/span><\/b>
<\/p>

<\/p>
Position Summary: <\/span><\/b>This position performs complex physical and chemical or microbiological tests and analyses within the Orange County Utilities Central Laboratory, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and quality control standards.<\/span>
<\/p>
<\/span>
<\/p>
Responsibilities:<\/span><\/b>
<\/p>
Perform chemical and microbiological sample analysis, and document findings in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for accurate data management.<\/span>
<\/li>
Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis of water, wastewater, soil, sludge or other matrices for detection of total coliforms, fecal coliforms, and E. coli<\/i>.<\/span>
<\/li>
Communicates with managers, project coordinators and clients daily.<\/span>
<\/li>
Conduct gravimetric analysis for Total Solids, Total Dissolved Solids, and Total Suspended Solids following established methods and department SOPs.<\/span>
<\/li>
Perform Wet Chemistry analysis using instruments to test pH, Turbidity, Alkalinity, CBOD\/BOD, Nutrients (Orthophosphate, Nitrate, Nitrite, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen, Total Phosphorus, Ammonia) according to SOPs.<\/span>
<\/li>
Ensure all quality assurance and quality control standards are met for the assigned analysis.<\/span>
<\/li>
Operate and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment such as Auto Analyzer, BOD analyzers, Atomic Absorption, Spectrophotometer, Carbon Analyzer, GC, HPL, or other specialized instruments as assigned.<\/span>
<\/li>
Ensures analytical results meet regulatory and certification requirements for water, wastewater, and environmental testing.<\/span>
<\/li>
Participate in internal audits with the QA\/QC department to ensure compliance with SOPs and quality control standards.<\/span>
<\/li>
Perform other related duties as assigned.<\/span>
<\/li>
<\/ul>Qualifications:<\/span><\/b>
<\/p>
Bachelorâs degree in environmental science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry or a related field.<\/span>
<\/li>
1 year of Environmental lab experience is a plus.<\/span>
<\/li>
<\/ul>Necessary Attributes:<\/span><\/b>
<\/p>
Proficiency in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for recording and managing data.<\/span>
<\/li>
Great communication skills for both on the phone and on email<\/span>
<\/li>
Strong attention to detail with an analytical mindset.<\/span>
<\/li>
Commitment to maintaining quality assurance and control standards.<\/span>
<\/li>
Ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment effectively.<\/span>
<\/li>
Effective problem\-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.<\/span>
<\/li>
Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with a team.<\/span>
