Design large-scale solar systems from home – power the U.S. energy transition remotely.
Is this you?
You’re a technically minded problem solver with a deep understanding of electrical design for solar. You thrive on precision, clear documentation, and working across multiple disciplines. Collaborating remotely doesn’t slow you down – you’re proactive, reliable and love getting things right the first time. If U.S. codes and solar standards are your thing, this might be your next step.
What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)
You’ll be responsible for designing and reviewing commercial and utility-scale PV electrical systems. Your day-to-day will include producing and validating single-line diagrams, interconnection layouts, and load calculations. You’ll review installation documents and provide expert input to procurement, construction, and development teams. Above all, you’ll ensure every design meets strict U.S. electrical codes and interconnection standards.
Where you’ll be doing it
Join a U.S.-based renewable energy leader delivering complex solar projects across the country. With a distributed team model, they’ve built a strong South African presence and offer meaningful roles that combine global impact with remote flexibility. It’s a culture that values precision, autonomy and a shared commitment to clean energy.
What you’ll need
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is essential, along with at least 3 years of experience in solar PV or MEP electrical design. You should be well-versed in NEC codes, AutoCAD, and engineering tools like ETAP. Strong communication, excellent English and the ability to work 3:00 pm–12:00 am SAST are key.
What you’ll get
A fully remote role with a respected international team, paid in U.S. dollars. You’ll earn a market related salary – with the benefit of favourable exchange rates. Enjoy autonomy, impact, and flexibility while contributing to meaningful renewable energy projects.
