Essential Functions
The safety officer writes and updates safety policies and procedures on campus and provides training to affected groups. Major policies include confined space entry, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, fall protection and van training. He/she conducts reviews of building safety conditions with Facilities Management and Planning. Consults with departments to recommend preferred equipment, room design and personal protective equipment. Conducts accident reviews as required. Keeps the EHS website updated as new policies and procedures are created.
Additional Duties
Assists with chemical and universal waste collection as required.

Required Qualifications
College degree in safety or a related field. Two years experience in the safety field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered with a HS diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
Safety Certification ( ASP or CSP ) is preferred.

Work Schedule
M-F, 8 AM to 5 PM, some after hours duty may be required.
