In this role, you are the responsible person for leading and facilitating the development and implementation of training and other programs and activities necessary to ensure facility SH&E compliance. This role requires a SH&E mindset, self-motivated person with a positive attitude, a ton of good energy, effective time management, organization, and recordkeeping skills. A successful candidate will be someone who can:
• Monitors proposed and existing SH&E regulations and legislation to determine their impact on operations. Develops and implements programs to ensure continued compliance.
• Participates in the development and implementation of Long-Range Plans (LRPs), Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs), global standards, budget, and other corporate efforts.
• Establishes site SH&E goals and objectives consistent with global and regional goals.
• Manages system for identifying, investigating, recording, and reporting undesired SH&E events. Ensures corrective actions are taken to fulfill regulatory compliance.
• Provide regular communication to all levels of management regarding SH&E performance to ensure that relevant issues are quickly and appropriately addressed.
• Manages all plant permitting efforts to meet regulatory requirements including but not limited to chemical, physical hazards as well as air, land, waste, and water pollution levels.
• Collect and compile environmental data for air, drinking water, stormwater, wastewater, and waste streams applicable to the site and make the required regulatory report and fee submittals (i.e., air, npdes, epcra, waste, etc.) as required by local, state, and federal governmental agencies.
• Communicate with the appropriate governmental agencies.
• Oversee requirements of non-hazardous, universal wastes, and hazardous waste activities including proper storage, labeling, manifesting, and container inspections.
• Manage databases and document record keeping required for assuring compliance with SH&E regulations and standards.
• Participate in the preparation and administration of site SH&E training. Promote and train employees in the use of safety equipment and in the safe use of machinery. May train forklift operators to qualify for licensing.
• Prepare Worker’s Compensation claims documents.
• Investigate incidents, prepare incidents reports, and process hazard reviews to analyze site incidents.
• Administer site medical surveillance programs for respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and industrial hygiene monitoring. Conduct noise level surveys and measure air quality, using precision instruments.
• Develop and monitor emergency action plans. Recommend changes to policies and procedures to prevent incidents and illness. Participates in hazard assessments for determination of personal protective equipment requirements and energy control procedures.
• Provide oversight and advancement of the site’s commitment to Process Safety Management (PSM) to ensure alignment with Regional and Corporate PSM goals and expectations. Risk Management Plan (RMP) as applicable.
• Evaluate and align site programs with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS).
• Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® and ISO Management Systems in line with the requirements of the RC14001® and ISO9001 technical specifications.
