We are seeking an Environmental & Food Safety (EFS) Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) to join our Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Division (CMD).
In this workflow-focused commercial role, you’ll be responsible for driving revenue growth across our instrumentation and consumables portfolio by providing deep technical expertise and exceptional sales support.
As a TSS, you will partner closely with Account Managers to identify opportunities, craft tailored solutions, and guide customers from initial interest through to closing — bringing Thermo Fisher’s “sample-to-knowledge” value proposition to life.
The position is based in Germany, ideally in an area with easy access to an airport or other major transportation hubs.
A day in the Life
- Identify and prioritize new customer opportunities within the Environmental & Food Safety market.
- Collaborate with Account Managers to develop and execute sales strategies that grow business and strengthen customer loyalty.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle — from prospecting to closing.
- Deliver presentations, product demonstrations, and workflow training to customers and internal sales teams.
- Represent the voice of the customer and partner with marketing, R&D, and manufacturing teams to inform product strategy.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipelines, and metrics using Thermo Fisher’s CRM tools.
- Build and nurture relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and key decision-makers in the EFS space.
- Stay current with industry trends and competitor activity to position Thermo Fisher as the partner of choice.
Drives Growth
- Shares the voice of customer towards the Business Unit. Also attends technical collaboration visits to Business Unit manufacturing and R&D sites; Supports new Product Introduction (NPI) prospects within territory to increase adoption rates and revenue return
- Supports and handles the sales funnel and forecast in collaboration with the country leads and their sales teams. Consults with key account managers and internal partners on obtaining customer forecasts for new and existing business; works on strategies to achieve sales goals and metrics, including value proposition development
- Uses Thermo Fisher Scientific’s sales tools to efficiently handle the accounts, opportunities, pipelines and forecasting in an accurate and timely manner
- Maintains awareness of competitor and industry activity; Introduces new products and services as available
- Some activities outside the German territory are anticipated
Keys to Success
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (in a scientific or technical field preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience in the Environmental & Food Safety or analytical instrumentation markets.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Proven success managing complex, high-value customer accounts.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially driven with a passion for science and customer success.
- Comfortable working in a matrix environment and collaborating across global teams.
- Fluent in English and German (additional regional languages a plus).
- Willing and able to travel up to 80%, including overnight travel.
