DescriptionDevelop and lead the execution of comprehensive EHS strategies aligned with Appleton Group’s business objectives and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to elevate safety culture and performance across all sites, ensuring alignment with Emerson’s corporate standards.
Monitor, analyze, and report safety KPIs, trends, and performance metrics to executive leadership, providing actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, proactively addressing risks and regulatory changes.
Oversee environmental compliance programs, including hazardous waste management, air and water quality monitoring, and sustainability initiatives.
Lead investigations of incidents, near-misses, and property damage; identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, leading responses to audits, inspections, and compliance inquiries.
Support capital projects by integrating safety planning and risk mitigation strategies throughout project lifecycles.
Champion employee safety training programs and behavioral safety initiatives, fostering engagement and accountability.
Coordinate and facilitate all required safety and health training, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all locations.
Build strong partnerships with operations leaders and employees to promote a culture of safety, ownership, and discipline.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressive EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment at a senior level.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
Proven ability to lead change, influence culture, and drive EHS performance.
Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
Planning and prioritization – manage multiple projects and activities.
Willingness and ability to travel, up to 50% each year
