Job Description Summary
The Senior Control System Architect is responsible for the technical leadership and oversight of Balance of Plant and Steam Turbine Controls design, development, and integration of large-scale BWR projects. This is a key technical role that spans development and improvement of Controls software, hardware, work processes, guiding and mentoring software development teams, and leading design reviews to ensure both program and customer requirements as well as quality standards are met. This role requires deep expertise in real-time and distributed control architectures, software engineering best practices, and system-level design. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker who can translate complex requirements into scalable, reliable, and secure control systems from conceptual design through implementation and commissioning, applying lean principles to solve problems, drive productivity, and improve quality.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Guide teams in the design, development, implementation, and validation of BOP and Steam Turbine Controls hardware and software to meet project and product requirements.
- Define system-level requirements, software architecture, and integration strategies.
- Develop and maintain documentation and work instructions for BWR and Steam Turbine hardware and software requisition processes.
- Ensure scalability, performance, reliability, and cybersecurity across controls solutions.
- Conduct milestone design reviews, risk assessments, and technical audits to ensure controls features and quality meet established acceptance criteria.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to I&C controls engineers.
- Support field personnel with resolution of installation and commissioning issues.
- Maintain relationships within the GE Vernova Gas Power Controls Engineering community to communicate requirements and drive project solutions for hardware and software designs.
- Define and deliver productivity and process improvements that increase the capacity of the Controls team.
- Work with internal engineering teams, internal customers, and external customers to gather requirements and deliver a quality product on time to meet power plant startups and commissioning.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering; Controls, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical or related discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of experience with controls hardware and software development on the Mark* VIe platform.
- Minimum 7 years of experience with application, requisition, or field engineering in a combination of mid-tier programmable logic controllers (PLC) or top-tier DCS used in combination, instrumentation, data acquisition, control, monitoring, or automation.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in safety critical applications or regulated industry.

- Technical skills and expertise in BWR, BOP, and Steam Turbine Controls.
- Demonstrated leadership skills guiding teams through hardware and software design and development.
- Experience working in a global matrix environment, with influence and collaboration skills.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EGD, OPC UA, Modbus, EtherCAT, TCP/IP, etc.).
- Familiarity with standards and compliance requirements in safety-critical or high-reliability systems (e.g., IEC 61508, DO-178C, ISO 26262).
- Solid understanding of model-based design, system simulation, and software lifecycle management.
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or related field preferred.
The base pay range for this position is $128,000-202,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on 11/28/2025.
The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
