The Environmental Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the Environmental Department by providing both administrative and technical assistance. You will be responsible for maintaining and updating the Compliance Management System to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local permits, standards, and regulations. Additionally, you will be involved in the new product review and Management of Change (MOC) process, ensuring that environmental considerations are thoroughly integrated into these evaluations.

What you will be doing
In this position, you will represent the company in environmental matters with government regulatory agencies, including the EPA and state and local entities. Your role involves supporting the administration of environmental regulations and site-specific permits to maintain continuous compliance. You will manage records and prepare reports, assist in the terminal’s leak detection and repair program, and track emissions data using Stolthaven’s reporting systems. Staying updated on environmental regulations through conferences and training sessions is vital, as is providing regulatory guidance to various departments when evaluating new business inquiries and construction plans. As the company representative, you will address environmental issues in customer meetings and audits, preparing reports as needed and actively participating in ISO Management Steering Committee meetings.
Key responsibilities
- Interact with government regulatory agencies, representing the company in environmental matters; Act as a company representative for environmental issues in customer meetings and audits.
- Support the administration of Federal, State, and local regulations and site-specific permits.
- Assist in administering the terminal’s leak detection and repair program.
- Track data needed to maintain emissions records using the Environmental Compliance Management system.
- Prepare environmental records, reports, and release notifications related to terminal operations.
- Stay informed about environmental regulation changes through conferences and publications.
- Evaluate new business inquiries and provide regulatory guidance to internal departments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science/Natural Science, or related area required.
- 2-5 years of experience in the environmental field with experience in air quality, hazardous waste management, wastewater treatment, and environmental permitting preferred.
- Broad-based computer skills with experience in environmental-related software.
- Strong analytical and technical skills.
- Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
