POSITION: Fabrication Lead
MAIN PURPOSE: Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the fitting and welding operation, and related fabrication services; evaluating materials and weld process; organizing material and equipment to meet fabrication deadlines; effective communication.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five years’ experience, Flux Core and Stick welding and fitting structural materials, in a manufacturing environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Ability to interpret and analyze blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Review finished products to ensure accuracy against drawing
- Work on special projects
- Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements
- Continuous improvement
- Determine required equipment and the welding method, applying welding technique knowledge for highest level quality
- Knowledge of basic math, including decimals and fractions.
- Proficient in the use of various hand tools necessary to complete a weldment (hand torch, square, level, tape measure, etc.)
- 3G and 4G experience is required.
- Must be able to get certified in 3G position on 1” plate.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works at the direction of management to lead and inspects welding processes and procedures to ensure strength and related weld requirements are met.
- Familiar with a variety of field’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.
- Leads and directs the work of others
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Instruct daily lead welders and fitters on all projects and follow through for results.
- Coordinate projects and assignments.
- Must be capable to read prints, weld, fit and have a good working knowledge of fabrication assembly, steel properties and procedures.
- Communicates effectively and will work with project engineers, planning team, and procurement to insure correct drawings, specifications and materials.
- At times will be called upon to replace fabrication personnel that are on other outside duties.
