The Safe Environment Coordinator supports and assists diocesan parishes, schools, departments and facilities in their implementation and compliance with the Diocese's safe environment program in accordance with the United States Catholic Conference of Bishop's Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

Duties:
The Safe Environment Coordinator for the Catholic Diocese of Jefferson City:
* Acts as a resource person for schools/parishes with questions about criminal background checks and training procedures
* Maintains safe environment database records of all parishes, schools, departments and facilities
* Prepares reports and assists with site visits for training and audit purposes
* Working with the Human Resources Department; completes all background screening and Mo. Family Care Registry checks and establishes Virtus accounts for new employees and volunteers
Education and Experience
* Must have a basic knowledge and understanding of the Diocese's safe environment program, policies and procedures
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
* Must be comfortable speaking on the phone and provide excellent customer service
* Must be able to work independently and exercise a certain amount of independence, judgment and confidentiality
* Ability to travel by car within the geographic region of the Diocese of Jefferson City
