What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and manage environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure the safety of every employee and compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements for multiple sites across North America
- Create and implement frameworks for conducting regular safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
- Provide EHS training and guidance to employees at all levels, promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement
- Monitor and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards
- Oversee and review record keeping of safety incidents, inspections, and compliance activities
- Manage the workers’ compensation program by overseeing claims, implementing preventive measures, coordinating return-to-work programs, and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to integrate EHS considerations into business decisions and drive sustainable practices
- Direct and evaluate third party activities
- Develop and oversee strategies for organizational learning that promote continual improvement in EHS performance
- Create and implement frameworks for effective learning from incidents, everyday work experiences, and other EHS-related events
- Standardize a uniform investigation methodology and deploy it across the business
- Utilize findings from investigations to drive organizational learning and reduce risk
- Lead a team of EHS Program Managers at all sites in North America, overseeing project execution, supporting incident investigations, and tracking corrective actions through to completion
- Drive a culture of continuous learning and safety by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build strong relationships and foster EHS compliance
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree (BA) in Occupational Safety or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- 10+ years of overall professional experience in management and/or a related discipline
- ASP or CSP certification is highly desired
- Proven experience in the development and management of safety systems across multiple locations in various states
- Strong project management skills required to ensure projects remain on target and meet deadlines
- Ability to travel throughout the US and Canada up to 50% of the time
