Role Overview:
The Head of Customer and Energy Markets will manage the Customer and Energy Markets team and play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Tilt Renewables customer strategy, energy trading portfolio and market operations to enable long term, sustainable growth. This role is accountable for driving commercial performance, enhancing customer value and ensuring the business remains agile and competitive in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
As a senior leader, this role will work cross-functionally to align strategic objectives across development, operations and finance, while cultivating strong relationships with regulators, market operators and key customers. With a sharp focus on innovation, risk management and operational excellence, this role will champion Tilt Renewables position at the forefront of Australia’s energy transition delivering both financial outcomes and sustainability outcomes.
Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the company’s customer and energy market strategy in alignment with broader corporate goals.
- Provide creative and customer focused thought leadership on innovative commercial structures that support Tilt’s growth objectives.
- Provide commercial guidance on pricing, customer propositions and energy portfolio optimisation.
- Manage initiatives to strengthen customer engagement and experience across all touchpoints.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments and emerging opportunities in the renewable energy sector to inform strategic decisions.
Customer Engagement and Retail Operations:
- Develop and oversee customer acquisition, retention and satisfaction strategies to enhance company reputation and market share.
- Oversee the development and execution of retail pricing strategies.
Energy Markets and Trading:
- Manage energy trading strategies to optimise revenue and mitigate risk exposure.
- Oversee power purchase agreements (PPAs) and contract negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with energy market regulations and industry standards.
- Monitor market conditions and adjust trading strategies accordingly.
Regulatory and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Represent the company in industry forums, regulatory discussions and policy advocacy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, market operators and industry partners.
- Ensure the company remains compliant with all regulatory obligations in the energy markets.
- Engage with government agencies, industry associations, and market bodies to influence energy policies and regulations as required.
Financial and Operational Performance:
- Oversee budget planning, financial forecasting and cost management for customer and energy market function.
- Monitor key performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive operational efficiencies through data-driven decision-making and process optimisation.
- Lead the adoption of new technologies to enhance market operations.
- Establish financial targets and ensure profitability within energy trading and customer segments.
Skills and Experience:
- 8-10 years experience in energy markets, customer engagement and trading within the Australian energy sector.
- Proven leadership experience in a senior management role.
- Strong commercial acumen, customer focus and strategic thinking ability.
- Strong understanding of wholesale trading, PPA’s, market operations and regulatory frameworks.
- Deep understanding of market regulations, compliance and risk management.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Economics, Finance or a related field.
