Occupational Health Nurse

Description:
The role of an occupational health specialist at Colombia, involves maintaining and developing the Fitness for Duty (FFD) process and other safety and occupational health processes, ensuring compliance with global health standards and legal requirements. Key duties include training personnel, overseeing the implementation of health policies, and managing the FFD process during various employment stages. The specialist also handles drug and alcohol policies, coordinates injury management, and supports contractor/vendor compliance. They work closely with the Health and Medical team to ensure alignment with corporate health policies, manage medical records, and provide reports. Additionally, the role includes policy development for infectious diseases and participation in emergency management exercises.
Roles and Responsibilities:
� Maintain, develop and execute the Fitness for Duty (FFD) process, while ensuring alignment with global health standards and legal requirements. Develop and deliver Fitness for Duty and Return to Work training programs
� Conduct reviews and audits of the FFD process and execute FFD requirements at various employment stages: pre-employment, job transfer, periodic medical, and return to work
� Maintain and develop the Drug and Alcohol policy and implement and monitor the Drug & Alcohol program. Work closely with contractors, HR, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective management
� Oversee injury management processes and coordinate workers� compensation cases. Provide SME input on medical emergency management � Support HSE/HR initiatives and manage health related compliance activities and medical surveillance programs
� Coordinates the SG-SST (Colombia Safety and Occupational Health Management System) with Health and Safety Team; Manage the associated OH activities
� Responsible for Occupational Health/Medical activities
� Manage activities and compliance for the Labor Risk Insurance Company (ARL Bolivar); COPASST; and Psychosocial Risk Management Program
� Support contractor management, including reviewing invoices, conducting contract review meetings, and managing contractor services
� Provide occasional medical advice for the bidding process of local medical plans for employees and retirees in the Colombia
� Provide support in the management and negotiations with the ARL (social security system) in Colombia, in order to optimize the resources provided by that entity to the local operations according to the company contributions
� Collaborate with procurement and business management to provide vendor management of contract medical providers (includes exam providers, Occupational Hygiene services and RSIP services)
� Participate in medical emergency response planning and drills, ensure medical response capabilities are adequate
� Support the deployment of local wellbeing initiatives. Provide health information and wellness promotion to the employee and contractor workforce, and coordinate / conduct health presentations on topics of need and interest, such as RSI, DVT, use of AED, First Aid, etc.
� Coordinate services, including local visits by Employee Assistance providers (EAP counselors)
� Serve as an medical liaison for the employee expatriate team members and their families to navigate the local country and regional health systems. This includes hospital visits such as emergency room visits, hospitalization and out-patient appointments.
� Be knowledgeable about local health care resources; maintain a network of key medical and dental contacts, including referral centers in Colombia.
� When requested, facilitate employee consultations with personal medical providers.
� Be available 24 hours on call for medical emergencies and urgent health advice, escort medical referrals when necessary and feasible for the employee and contractor workforce, and when needed, for expatriate dependents
� Coordinate medical referrals in conjunction with local contract medical providers
Relevant Qualifications:
� Professional registration as Occupational Health Nurse with at least three years� relevant postgraduate experience
� Must speak fluent English
� Understanding of medical terminology, diagnosis, and prognosis
� Knowledge of Colombia Safety and Occupational Health Management System, OSHA Regulations, and Workers� Compensation legislation
� Ability to handle sensitive personal data and maintain data privacy
� Experience in Microsoft 365 (Excel/Word/Teams/Outlook and Power Point)
� Experience working in a corporate setting preferred
