Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Environmental Engineer to oversee and manage environmental aspects of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of environmental regulations, impact assessments, and sustainable construction practices, with a proven track record of integrating these into large-scale infrastructure or building projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead environmental planning, assessment, and compliance for ongoing and upcoming construction projects.
- Conduct and review Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs).
- Ensure compliance with national environmental regulations, international standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, local authorities, and stakeholders regarding environmental issues.
- Monitor on-site environmental performance, including waste management, air and water quality, erosion control, and biodiversity protection.
- Provide technical advice to project managers and site teams on environmental risks and mitigation strategies.
- Lead audits, inspections, and incident investigations related to environmental performance.
- Train and mentor junior staff and contractors on environmental best practices and procedures.
- Support sustainability initiatives and contribute to achieving environmental certification (e.g., LEED, ISO 14001).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental engineering within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to manage complex environmental aspects of multi-disciplinary projects.
- Experience with EIA/EMP preparation and implementation.
- Excellent communication, project management, and report-writing skills.
- Certification in environmental systems or safety (e.g., NEBOSH, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor) is an added advantage.
