Location: Field-Based – UK Wide (Ideally Midlands or Lincolnshire-based)
Salary: £40,000 – £46,000 DOE + Van + 25 Days Holiday + Overtime + Tools

Overview
This is a varied role involving the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of both rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems across commercial sites. You’ll take projects from initial design and planning through to build, commissioning, and post-installation fault finding and testing.
The Opportunity
We’re hiring on behalf of a well-established M&E contractor specialising in renewable energy projects. With a growing pipeline of solar PV installations, they’re looking for a Solar PV Engineer with strong design and commissioning skills to join their expanding team.
Key Responsibilities

Design solar PV systems using Solax or SolarEdge design software to produce optimal layouts and specifications

Install rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems, including fitting mounting structures, panels, inverters, and electrical connections

Carry out testing, commissioning, and maintenance of systems

Support with fault-finding, repairs, and upgrades on existing systems

Assist and oversee installation teams to ensure designs are implemented accurately

Maintain accurate reports, design documentation, and site records

Ensure health & safety procedures are followed on all projects
Requirements

Proven experience designing and installing solar PV systems (rooftop and/or ground-mounted)

Experience using Solax or SolarEdge design platforms – essential

NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation – essential

18th Edition Wiring Regulations – essential

Ability to commission systems to full operational status

Strong problem-solving skills for fault-finding and system optimisation

CSCS/ECS card preferred

Full UK driving licence

Comfortable with UK travel and occasional overnight stays
