Overview:
We're seeking a Field Safety & Health Specialist to join our team and support on-site project management in implementing and maintaining comprehensive safety and health initiatives for heavy construction environments. This role ensures the consistent application of safety protocols to promote a hazard-free and compliant worksite.
Key Responsibilities:
-Oversee safety activities at construction field locations to ensure operations align with regulatory and company safety requirements.
-Implement site-specific Safety & Health program elements as directed by the Corporate Safety & Health division.
-Ensure full compliance with OSHA (local, state, and federal), and other relevant regulatory bodies.
-Take immediate action and investigate incidents or conditions posing imminent danger to workers.
-Communicate resolved safety concerns and recognize involved personnel to leadership teams.
-Interface regularly with the Corporate Safety & Health group to ensure effective program execution and documentation.
-Coordinate directly with client representatives and subcontractor safety staff to uphold safety standards and foster collaboration.
-Perform and document regular safety walk-throughs and assessments alongside subcontractor safety leads.
-Track and report on any immediate corrective actions required on-site and verify timely resolution.
-Support communication efforts including safety bulletins, goals, and training material to reinforce a proactive safety culture.
-Deliver on-site training on safety, health, and environmental procedures.
-Manage incident reporting including near misses, environmental concerns, and accident investigations; suggest preventative measures.
-Update Corporate Safety & Health with project-specific safety performance, progress, and issues.
-Ensure all safety-related documents are maintained in an audit-ready format.
-Validate that subcontractors also maintain proper documentation and submit required materials.
-Travel to various field locations as necessary.
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management, plus a minimum of 3 years of related experience;
OR
-Associate degree with 5+ years relevant experience;
OR
-High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years of applicable field safety or construction experience.
-Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction and General Industry standards, as well as ANSI, NIOSH, USACE EM 385-1-1, and NEC guidelines.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Flexible to adapt to various field schedules and project demands.
-Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company driving requirements.
-Completion of OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction Safety Outreach Training is required.
