Under the general direction of a Senior Transportation Engineer, the TE performs engineering duties and activities in the Division of Traffic Operations. Based on annual workload, delivery commitments, and seasonal needs, incumbent may be assigned by the Department to a variety of positions in an office or field environment. The TE is responsible for supporting real-time traffic management activities specifically lane closure management for planned, unplanned and emergency activities and transportation management plan (TMP) implementation or modifications during phase 3 of projects on the State Highway System (SHS). This responsibility includes review of Value Engineering Cost Proposals (VECP), Contract Change Orders (CCO) and other modifications to project plans and specifications.
Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Civil in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility.
