About Too Good To Go
At Too Good To Go, we have an ambitious goal: to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together.
40% of all food produced in the world is wasted. And that has a huge impact on the health of our planet, with 10% of greenhouse gas emissions coming from food waste.
We’re more than an app: we are a certified B Corporation with a mission to empower everyone to take action against food waste, so alongside our marketplace app, we create educational tools, explore new business solutions - such as our Retail Technologies offering, and influence legislation to help reduce food waste.
We’re growing fast: Our community of 117 million registered users and 244,000 active partners across 19 countries, have together already prevented 439+ million meals from going to waste - avoiding over 1.186.000 tonnes of CO2e!
About the Role
The Localisation Manager will play a crucial role in optimising our cross-functional translation, localisation and transcription workflows, with a specific focus on Marketing. Your mission will be to ensure that all Too Good To Go users and audiences – consumers and partners alike – have an equally great and consistent experience, regardless which of the 21 supported languages they receive our communications in. This involves direct oversight and management of our TMS (CrowdIn), training AI and LLMs to increase pace and efficiency without sacrificing quality and building scalable solutions and integrations within various cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate for this role is...
A hungry, humble and collaborative teammate with direct experience working in global organisations with multiple stakeholders, building scalable solutions that unlock efficiencies and facilitating cross-functional collaboration at scale. Direct experience working in localisation functions with focus on Translation Management Systems (TMS), LLM training, AI prompting and tool integrations is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be in charge of monitoring the Marketing translations process across 21 languages, overseeing individual translators/reviewers, ensuring a high quality and consistent output, using tools like translation memory, glossaries, machine translation, AI and the built-in QA checks in our TMS (Crowding Enterprise).
- You will be in charge of onboarding new translation resources, introducing them to our TMS, our translation processes, and any translation guidelines specific to their languages.
- You will be driving our translation processes for Marketing, using our TMS (Crowdin Enterprise), working closely with our current Product Localisation Managers, the relevant Marketing Teams (consisting of Marketing Operations, Campaign Management, CRM, Social Media, Creative, Local Markets, etc.) and our in-house translators, reviewers as well as external agencies.
- You will help us to accelerate and streamline our translation processes through the application of AI pre-translations at scale and integrations within tools to optimise the translation, review, and distribution of marketing materials.
- You will be in charge of providing all the necessary contextual information and guidelines to our internal and external translators, e.g. by uploading screenshots, adding additional context information and any character limits directly in our TMS, and compiling concise task descriptions before sending tasks out for translation.
- You will be in charge of creating and maintaining our domain-specific glossaries in all languages and ensuring that our key terminology always gets translated correctly.
Job Requirements
- Established professional experience with localisation project management for marketing - either in-house or through an agency. A university degree in linguistics, translation and/or interpreting, or similar is advantageous.
- Thorough understanding of and experience working with translation management tools – experience with Crowdin Enterprise is an advantage – and building scalable translation workflows from the ground up.
- Experience working with AI and training LLMs - particularly through prompting.
- Ability to help build robust and effective localisation processes geared for continuous localisation, constant improvement and occasionally adjusting existing processes as needed in collaboration with all the stakeholders involved.
- A natural flair to juggle multiple tasks and projects that are in different stages at the same time and to work in a highly structured and organised manner.
- Detail-orientated, who is able to spot issues and inconsistencies even in languages you’re not proficient in.
- A high-level communicator who clearly and proactively spars with teammates across multiple marketing functions and translators/LSPs alike in order to provide the right information to the right people at the right time for the localisation tasks to be completed successfully and on time.
- Excellent English language skills – both in writing and speaking – with acute attention to grammar, linguistic accuracy, correct spelling, and punctuation.
- Thorough knowledge of at least two other languages and an understanding of how different languages’ grammar (e.g. different word order, pluralisation rules, etc.) impacts the way source strings in English should be formatted in order to allow for proper localisation.
