A DAY IN THE LIFE
Our Orlando or Tampa, FL office is looking for a Environmental Scientist. In this role, a successful candidate will conduct environmental site investigations, assessments, and surveys, including the collection of field measurements and sampling and analysis of groundwater, soil, surface water, and sediment. Projects are likely to include environmental site assessments, remediation investigations, long-term monitoring and reporting, risk assessments, and site remediation and restoration.
The Environmental Scientist will participate in the coordination and implementation of field events and assist with executing projects in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role will also include assisting with preparation of technical documents (like proposals, reports, and regulatory agency correspondence), as well as the reduction, extrapolation, and presentation of data for client and regulatory review. In the Environmental Scientist role, you will be expected to:
Perform site visits and field data collection assignments, and document site activities, observations, and data.
Conduct sampling of groundwater, soil and other environmental media and assist in the analysis and interpretation of data.
Supervise subcontractors performing geophysical surveys, direct push/drilling investigations, and implementation of environmental remediation.
Assist with preparing reports, tables, maps, drawings, and visual aids to evaluate, plan and obtain regulatory approval on project recommendations.
Adhere to technical requirements in the completion of environmental sampling, testing, and data collection. data and/or document site activities.
Have some client interaction pertaining to specific projects/tasks.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Exercise safe work practices by following all company safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at required safety training programs.
Participate in the company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
Keep up to date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
Perform other duties as assigned.
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The qualifications and expectations listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related science field.
Up to 5 years of experience in environmental consulting or a related field is preferred.
Experience with GIS is a plus.
Valid driver’s license, ability to travel and obtain security clearance at federal installations.
Travel will be required (estimated approximately 50-75%).
