For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $128,000 - $193,000 per year, which includes base pay and Sales Incentive Plan (SIP).
The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Schneider Electric, a global leader in Smart Grid technologies is seeking a Solution Architect – GIS (ArcFM) to join our North American Digital Grid team. This role will focus on solutioning Geographic Information System (GIS) needs and requirements of utility companies, with a specific emphasis on ArcFM (Esri’s utility-focused GIS platform).
The Solution Architect will lead the architecture and solution development process by collaborating with utilities to identify their asset & spatial data needs, architect GIS-centric solutions, and ensure seamless integration with utility systems and Schneider Electric’s digital grid portfolio. As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with customers, strategic partners such as Microsoft and Esri, and internal teams (sales, product development, tendering, and delivery) to deliver transformative GIS solutions that enhance grid visibility, resilience, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with utility customers to rapidly assess their technical and business needs related to GIS solutions, including ArcFM, asset & data management, network modeling, and design/operational workflows to propose tailored solutions leveraging Schneider Electric’s digital grid offerings.
- Capability to quickly grasp customer priorities and internal technology infrastructure to target business needs solved with Schneider Electric’s application suite.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and Schneider Electric’s product differentiation.
- Lead during the pre-sales activities the solution design, system architecture, and development requirements with utility customers to enable successful deployment of ArcFM-based GIS solutions, ensure seamless integration of IT/OT systems and alignment with utility operational goals.
- Collaborate with strategic partners (e.g., Microsoft, Esri) to enhance GIS platform capabilities and ensure interoperability within utility ecosystems.
- Work cross-functionally with sales to develop win strategies, support pre-sales activities (demonstrations, RFP responses), and provide technical expertise during deal closure.
- Partner with product development to provide feedback on ArcFM enhancements and with delivery teams to ensure successful implementation.
- Represent Schneider Electric at industry events and customer engagements, showcasing thought leadership and promoting ArcFM-based GIS solutions.
- Communicate a win strategy during deal qualification stage for every business opportunity based on Schneider Electric’s differentiation.
Professional Background and Experience
- GIS Expertise: Strong background in the Esri’s platform, with direct experience in utility deployments highly desired.
- IT/OT Proficiency: Experience deploying software products in enterprise environments and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with GIS (ArcFM), Esri Geometric Network, and Utility Network implementations, as well as emerging trends such as asset management, network design, and grid modernization.
- Solution Development: Demonstrated ability to lead architecture design, assess customer needs, and develop business cases using data-driven decision-making.
- Collaboration Skills: Experience working with external partners (e.g., Microsoft, Esri and SE business partners) and internal stakeholders (sales, product development, tendering, delivery) to deliver end-to-end GIS solutions.
- Sales Support: Track record of supporting complete sales cycles, including pre-sales presentations, on-site demonstrations, RFI/RFP responses, and providing input on Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience Level: 8+ years in utilities, grid operations, or IT/OT solution deployment; experience with GIS technologies (ArcFM, Esri Utility Network) is a plus.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent operational experience in utility GIS or control center environments.
