About the Role
The Environment & Radiation (ER) Advisor will oversee the completion of environmental and radiation monitoring and management requirements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and non-regulatory standards. This role involves data entry, QA checks, and assessments against compliance limits. The Advisor will proactively report and mitigate risks related to environmental and radiation hazards, while providing expertise and training to site personnel and contractors to support a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible mining operation.
The role will be FIFO from Adelaide charter terminal direct to the Honeymoon mine site on an 8:6 roster
Responsibilities:
- Identify, monitor and manage environmental risks – daily site inspections to identify hazards and incidents. Assist with timely review and management of all environmental and radiation hazards and incidents.
- Inspections to ensure compliance with EPA licence 19643, Radiation licences and regulatory approvals.
- Assist with the development and implementation of environmental and radiation management systems, including development and review of procedures, forms, SWIs, WIs etc.
- Assist with the implementation of environmental and radiation monitoring programs and environmental and radiation management plans.
- Complete statutory environmental monitoring and data entry as detailed in the PEPR, RMP/RWMP and as requested (i.e. Gould’s dam, exploration projects).
- Assist with maintenance, servicing, and installation of groundwater wells / pumps.
- Complete statutory radiation site-based monitoring and data entry as detailed in the approved Radiation Management Plan and Radioactive Waste Management Plan (RMP/RWMP).
- Complete the annual pest and weed survey and report and assist in site weed and pest management strategies and programs.
- Fauna management, including reptile relocations and animal welfare as required.
- Vegetation clearance permit system management and completion.
- Assist in managing the environmental and radiation database, including entering field data and external data reports.
- Data review – quality assurance / quality control checks, identify and report any trends/anomalies immediately.
- Immediately raise and appropriately manage regulatory compliance breaches, leading indicator exceedances, action or investigation level breaches.
- Review JSAs and issue radiation work permits (as required) to ensure that environmental risks are managed and that occupational radiation doses are as low as reasonably achievable and are compliant with requirements of the RMP/RWMP and legislation.
About You
- Australian Driver’s License.
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or related field.
- Experience in environmental and radiation monitoring, preferably in mining.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with monitoring equipment and software.
- Willingness to work in remote locations and flexible hours.
- Radiation Safety Officer Training and mining experience (desirable but not essential)
- GIS expertise (QGIS preferred) is desirable.
