The Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a one-year sabbatical replacement faculty position in organic chemistry at the rank of Instructor, beginning August 25, 2025. The successful candidate will teach organic chemistry lecture and labs, as well as other chemistry courses as needed by the department.

The home campus for this position is CU-Bloomsburg with the expectation of serving a multi-campus University within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

About the Department:The Department of Physical and Environment Sciences features approximately 50 faculty that teach in the areas of biochemistry and chemistry, physics and engineering, and environmental sciences. Our Chemistry programing is approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS), and the Pre-Medicine and Biochemistry tracks are accredited by the American Society of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (ASBMB). About the College:Physical and Environmental Sciences is one of seven departments in the College of Health, Science, and Technology at Commonwealth University. The College offers many nationally accredited and regionally distinct programs. The College seeks student-centered educators and scholars who use innovative, pedagogically sound methods to educate students and engage them in high-impact educational practices both inside and outside the classroom.

1) Teach and develop courses/laboratories in organic chemistry.

2) Participate in service activities for the program, department, college, university, and the community as available.

Minimum Qualifications:
1) Ph.D., or ABD, in Chemistry with expertise in Organic Chemistry.

2) Experience teaching organic chemistry lectures and/or labs.

3) Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
4) Demonstrated ability to work with various student learner populations.
