Join Our Team as our Green Lending Manager!
Are you passionate about sustainability and making a real impact in your community? Do you have a knack for finance and lending, but want to put your skills toward a greener future? If so, United Bay Community Credit Union wants you on our team!
About the Role
As our Green Lending Manager (GLM), you will be responsible for the careful development of program procedures, guidelines, and eligibility criteria to ensure that Ubay’s green lending structure is sustainable, financially sound, and aligned with both market demand and long-term goals. The Green Lending Manager (GLM) will collaborate with internal teams, industry partners, and regulatory bodies to create a comprehensive set of loan underwriting standards, eligibility criteria, and operational procedures that support the expansion of green lending products.
You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure these programs are accessible—especially to members in Low-Income Designated Areas (LIDACs) and underserved communities. The ideal individual will already be knowledgeable of Lending standards (green lending preferred) and has a proven track record in building a portfolio.
A particular focus will be placed on outreach and education, equipping members with the knowledge needed to take full advantage of available green financing options. After the structure is created, this role will be very sales oriented. The program will also integrate energy efficiency education to help borrowers understand long-term cost savings and sustainability benefits. This will allow our GLM to interact with our member base and surrounding community in a face-to-face environment.
This is a new role for Ubay, and the GLM will play a critical role in shaping the future of Ubay’s Green Lending initiatives. By developing well-defined procedures, transparent eligibility criteria, and strong operational guidelines, this position will help ensure the program meets the needs of both borrowers and the broader community, driving Michigan’s transition to a more sustainable and financially inclusive economy.
What We’re Looking For:
✔️ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Environmental Studies, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
✔️ 3-5 years of experience in lending, underwriting, or community development finance (green lending experience a plus!).
✔️ Passion for credit union movement.
✔️ Strong community engagement and partnership development skills.
✔️ Analytical mindset with excellent communication and leadership abilities.
✔️ Experience with loan origination systems, risk assessment tools, and compliance.
Bonus Points for:
- Experience with grant funding and green finance reporting.
- Familiarity with state and federal energy incentive programs.
- Skills in marketing and education strategies to promote sustainable lending.
