Position: Horticulturist II
Starting Pay: $18.00/hr

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is looking for an experienced Horticulturist II to help maintain and expand our lush indoor and outdoor botanical collection. From towering tropical trees to vibrant outdoor gardens, this role plays a key part in creating stunning landscapes that complement our animal exhibits and inspire our visitors.

What You’ll Do:
Care for a diverse collection of plants across the Aquarium’s grounds, exhibits, and gardens.
Monitor environmental conditions to promote plant health and growth.
Maintain aesthetic standards for public-facing displays.
Identify and address plant health concerns, including pests and disease.
Train and mentor team members to enhance horticultural knowledge.
Plan and execute small-scale horticultural projects from design to implementation.
What We’re Looking For:
Education
A degree in horticulture, biological sciences, or a related field is preferred, but a combination of education and hands-on experience will be considered.
Experience
2+ years of experience in professional plant care, with a strong preference for those familiar with tropical and indoor plants or Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
Team Player: Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain records and uphold best practices in plant care.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in varying conditions, from humid indoor rainforests to outdoor landscapes in all seasons.
Additional Requirements:
Valid Utah driver’s license (or ability to obtain within six months).
Ability to pass a TB test before the start date.
Utah Pesticide Applicator’s License (or willingness to obtain within six months).
Physically able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work with power tools and cleaning chemicals.
